Every month I try to highlight and interview black individuals who I feel like are talented or individuals who are leaders in their community. These entrepreneurs, artist, bloggers, performers, etc. I feel are people who need to be in the spotlight. This week I am shining a light on a fellow blogger, who I respect and who inspires me daily. I would like to introduce you all to Dallas, and her amazing platform Dose Of Dallas.
I had the opportunity to interview Dallas and get to know more about her and her blog. Dallas explains, “I like to refer to my work as creative writing journalism. I craft stories and write about ways to practice self-love. I also love being on camera. My blog houses everything I am passionate about; writing, modeling, and being on camera.”
Q: What’s the story behind Dose of Dallas? What inspired you to start your blog?
Dose of Dallas was a vision I had for years. I saw it as the name of my personal brand way before it came to fruition. It started as my name on Youtube and now it’s the name for everything I create.
Q: Who is your blog for? Who do you write for?
I write for people who are like me, who are human. We all go through some sort of phase when we are doubtful, unsure, and unmotivated. My goal is to present stories that inspire and share revelations of women and men who are living their dreams, despite their setbacks.
Q: What makes your blog different than any other regular blog?
My blog is different because I truly want to connect with each and every person I interview on a personal level. This gives me the opportunity to relate to them which helps me craft the best story.
Q: Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
I don’t like referring to blogging as neither my profession or hobby because it is one of my passions. Though I don’t get paid for it (yet), nor do it as a 9-5. But when I get an idea and focus on it, good stories come!
Q: Other than blogging what else are you passionate about?
I am also passionate about being on camera. I am working on making Dose of Dallas into a talk show where I interview people who have amazing stories to share, like a mini Oprah Show but much lower tier (lol).
Q: What is the hardest thing about being a creative?
The hardest thing about being a creative is of course, keeping those creative juices flowing and consistency.
Q: What is the best or the most rewarding thing about what you do?
The most rewarding thing about blogging is when the interviewee expresses how much they love and appreciate the work I’ve done and when I get positive feedback from readers.
Q: Is there any advice you would like to give to people who want to start blogging but don’t know what to do or where to start?
It may sound cliché but JUST DO IT! Honestly and truly. The ideas in your head are meant to come to life. Focus on one thing at a time until you’ve reached your ultimate goal.
Q: Where can people view your blog?
